Welcome to
Christ Alone.
We aim to be a multi-generational church where single people, young couples, little ones, parents, and grandparents can learn alongside one another. Every week, you can expect a worship service full of scripture. Pastor T preaches straight from God’s Word with applications to today’s world. As the world becomes increasingly disconnected, we want to create a space where Arlington neighbors can get to know their Savior and each other.

Our Present
In 2025, the people of Christ Alone decided to relocate to the Arlington area, where many members already lived. Christ Alone recently celebrated its official launch in October.
Our Past
Christ Alone has been serving greater Memphis since 1972, previously under the name Gloria Dei. Pastor Turriff has served this congregation since 2015.
Our History
What is a mission church?
You might be wondering: Why do we worship in a rented facility? Christ Alone is a mission church, also called a church plant. Members and leaders of Gloria Dei identified the need for a Biblical church in the Arlington area. We’re currently in the process of building it from the ground up — figuratively and literally — as God blesses us with the gifts to do so. For now, this means we operate out of a rented facility. Being a mission church also means that we’re all-in on outreach: sharing the good news of the gospel with our friends and neighbors.
Jim Turriff
Pastor Jim Turriff has served the congregation at Christ Alone since 2015, when he moved from Yakima, Washington. He graduated from Northwestern College with a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Languages. Then, he received his Master of Divinity & Master of Sacred Theology from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary. Pastor and his wife, Janine, have two children, Evan & Emma. Pastor strives to teach God's word in a way that's both accessible and in-depth. There's nothing he'd rather do than share Jesus' saving name with the people of Tennessee.

Scripture
We believe the Bible isn’t just an old book full of rules — it’s God’s living and active Word. It tells the true story of who God is, who we are, and what he’s done to rescue us. We trust the Bible because it’s where God speaks clearly, showing us his promises and his heart. In a world full of noise and opinions, Scripture gives us something solid and unchanging to build our lives on.
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. —Hebrews 4:12
"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. Faith
Faith isn’t about having everything figured out or holding your life together perfectly. It’s about trust — resting in what Jesus has already done for you. Salvation isn’t about us climbing up to God; it’s about God coming down to us. Faith simply receives what Jesus has already won.
Not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. —Philippians 2:4-11

Christ
At the center of everything is Jesus. He’s not just a wise teacher, guru, or celebrity. He's your flesh-and-blood Savior who came to earth to live and die for you. Your hope isn’t found in vague spirituality, success, or self-improvement — it’s found in Christ alone.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. —John 3:16–17

Salvation
At Christ Alone, we believe that God’s grace is a gift freely given, not earned, by faith in Jesus Christ. He gives us this gift through his Word & Sacraments, including baptism & holy communion. We believe that Church is more than a place or an hour in your week. Guided by God’s Word, Christ Alone comes together to encourage one another and grow in our knowledge of God's grace as we look forward to an eternity spent with Him.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.
